The highs 📈 and lows 📉 of small business life
📈 As we mentioned last month, we’ve been fortunate enough to expand our team. It’s always exciting to grow and improve on our client services. Our latest hire is starting TODAY! And we’re thrilled to have her join us. Stay tuned for more updates and some of you may be hearing from her soon!
📉 Part of the reason we’re hiring is that we’ve had a bucketload of work due to onboarding some new clients. It’s the time in between realising we need to bring someone on and their start date that has been challenging, as we juggle the workload and Amy and Liam have been working overtime to ensure everything gets done. We don’t recommend this way of working and try our best to ensure we have a good balance between work and play but sometimes you don’t have the choice!
Our tech this month
🧈ButterDocs is an alternative to Google docs that helps you run a more productive writing process with built-in notes app, outlining board, tools for focus, and collaboration built for professional writing & editing workflows.
📓Affine: Ever wanted to mix Notion and Miro together?? Well, it seems like it might be possible now with this tool Liam found this week. Providing both paid and open source options, we’ll be sure to test it out and return with some feedback!
💻Workona - For people who always have a lot of tabs open in their browser (guilty!), this browser extension allows you to organise all the links you need to come back to, project by project, in different browser workspaces.
Productivity hack 👩💻
Do you already use Xero for invoicing and accounts but want to get a better grasp of where time's going (and how that's impacting your bottom line)? Try Xero Projects for a more simple solution (definitely don’t use it for complex job tracking) – you can record expenses, track time and check your profit margin on any project/job.
